JAB-27 JACKSON/THE STERN SOLDIER Brass
|
25mm - 14 struck
Both dies were cut in 1867 and sold to J.W. Kline in 1872. They are currently in the ANS collection.
Bolen struck 14 examples in Brass. Kline also struck a few examples in this metal. It is fairly easy to tell the restrikes from the originals. The originals are 2.2 to 3.0 mm thick. The restrikes are only 1.5 to 2.0 mm in thickness.
The piece is fairly rare. I have only seen six Brass examples appear at auction in the past 30 years. The Q.D. Bowers collection lacked an example in this metal.
