JAB-29 DANIEL WEBSTER MEDAL Copper #2
25mm - 14 struck

Both dies were cut in 1867 and sold to J.W. Kline in 1872. They are currently in the ANS collection.

The bust for this medal was modeled after a 1851 picture of Webster by Springfield resident, Chester Harding. It currently resides in the Springfield Art Museum. Webster was hailed as the Defender of the Constitution for his support of the Force Bill, which mandated that the States were not sovereign and had to comply with Federal Law.

Bolen struck 14 examples in Copper. Kline also struck a few examples in this metal. It is fairly easy to tell the restrikes from the originals. The originals are 2.2 to 3.0 mm thick. The restrikes are only 1.5 to 2.0 mm in thickness.

A NGC MS-63 piece was sold on EBAY by CWTGUY for $507 in January of 2014.
