The obverse die was cut in 1867 and sold to J.W. Kline in 1972. Musante states it is currently owned by a Michigan Dealer. The reverse was cut in 1968. It ws defaced and given to Dr. Pratt. It is currently unaccounted for.
The piece pictured was obtained for $2300 in the January 2011 Stacks Sale. It came from the Q. David Bowers Collection; via the Charles Litman Collection; via the Donald M. Miller Collection. It is the only example offered for sale since the example sold in the 1999 Sotheby Capt. Zabriskie Sale, which went for $1650. A very rare piece that is only offered for sale once every 10 to 20 years.
