JAB-07 LARGE STAR CONFEDERATIO CENT Copper 27mm - 40 struck Dies cut in 1863. They were sold to Dr. Edwards, who issued restrikes and sold them as genuine examples. After Edward's death, the dies passed to Edward Cogan, who sold them back to Bolen. Bolen claims to have destroyed them to prevent further restrikes from being issued. This is the second colonial fascimile issued by Bolen. The legend on the obverse translates "America Hostile to Tyrants". Bolen copies can be distinguished from originals by his secret mark, a small dot in the Y of TYRANNIS. A MS-60 example was sold by Stacks for $705 in their Aug. 2013 Sale. A NGC-53 example sold on EBAY in Aug. 2016 for $465. Keywords: bolen confederatio
