The dies were cut in 1865. It is believed the reverse die cracked and was destroyed. The obverse die was sold to Kline and has had several different owners since. It last sold in a June 2008 Heritage sale as part of lot 70070.  The example pictured clearly shows the reverse die cracks typically encountered on these pieces.

Uncirculated examples sold in the 2011 Stacks sale of the Bowers collection for $253 and $219, lots 6607 and 6608.
