Mule JAB K-03 JACKSON/WEBSTER Silver
|
25mm - Unknown number struck
This piece consists of the obverse of JAB-27 combined with the obverse of JAB-29. It is a very rare combination. Other than this silver example, the only other known example of this variety is a Brass example in the collection of the Massachusetts Historical Society and the Copper example that I own. Both dies were cut in 1867 and sold to Kline in 1872. Kline struck the mules before selling the dies to the Chapmans. The dies then passed to the ANS, where they currently reside.
This piece was offered in Hayden's December 2012 auction, where it failed to obtain the opening $900 reserve.
