Mule JAB M/E-12 INIMICA TYRANNIS / DIE SINKER Brass
28mm - Unknown number struck

This mule consists of the Obverse of JAB-7 muled with the reverse of JAB-5. The Inimica die was cut in 1863 and is believed to have been destroyed by Bolen. The reverse die was struck in 1864 and sold to Masons, to Edwards, to Cogan, possibly to Bushell, to Chapmans and is currently in the ANS collection.

The example pictured is the only one that I have ever seen offered for sale. It was sold in a 2006 Stacks sale for $1265. It was again sold by Stacks in 2010 for $805. I purchased it in a Hayden 2016 sale for $750, lot 694. I don't necessarily like the price trajectory, but I was certainly happy to add what might be the only Brass example of this variety to my collection.
