JAB-20 LINCOLN WITH MALICE TOWARD NONE Brass
25mm
1 struck by Bolen - Restrikes by Kline.

The dies were cut in 1865. It is believed the reverse die cracked and was destroyed. The obverse die was sold to Kline and has had several different owners since. It last sold in a June 2008 Heritage sale as part of lot 70070.

Musante states that Bolen only struck one example in Brass and speculated that the reverse die broke during its striking. The piece pictured is a 3mm thick Bolen strike and clearly does not exhibit any sign of a reverse die break. The Kline restrikes are easily identified by their thinner, 1.5 - 2.0mm planchets and all are believed to have the reverse die break.
