JAB-38 1874 MASONIC MEDAL Copper
27mm - 5 struck

The dies were cut in 1874 per order of George D. Rollins, the "Tyler" or Doorkeeper for the Lodge. The obverse die cracked during use. Both dies are currently unaccounted for. The Masonic Temple pictured was damaged by fire on February 9, 1891, deemed unsafe, and torn down.

The piece pictured was acquired in the 1982 NYC Public Library sale. The last example I saw offered for sale was in 1990. A very rare variety that will difficult to acquire in any condition.
